Mt. Pleasant city officials qualify for membership in the Felons Pending Conviction club. Their disregard for membership deterrents:
Oath of Office - sworn statement the official will support the Charter, and faithfully discharge the duties of their office;
Ethics Policy - adopted statement that officials shall comply with charter provisions, ordinances, laws, rules, and regulations;
Rules of Professional Conduct - ethics policies (see preceding) and sanctions tailored for various licensed professions (attorneys, etc.);
Statutory Sanctions - penalties motivating compliance with statute provisions;
is no longer being hedged with a tired, discredited, 'confusion/unintentional' claim.
