One week+ and city officials have twice confirmed receipt of the question/clarification request. Perhaps the effort of a second receipt confirmation, in lieu of citations, answers all the questions; Mt. Pleasant city officials take action mindless of statutory authority. Their history supports such a conclusion and the city attorney has opined that intentional disregard renders statute provisions inapplicable.

Thanks for your email communication last week commenting on, and posing several questions, about the City’s Zoning Ordinance and the jurisdiction and/or authority of the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Planning Commission.
First, I want to assure you I have confirmed that each City Commissioner has received your email. Several of them have served either on the ZBA or the Planning Commission and will likely find your citations of interest. I have also passed your comments on to the Zoning Administrator, the City Planner and their Division Director. I am aware that Mr. Mrdeza, the Director of Community Services and Economic Development, has already had conversations with Mr. Kench and Mr. Gray about the issues you have raised.
Your long history of interest into zoning matters is recognized and appreciated. Please don’t hesitate to contact me or Mr. Mrdeza at any time about these question or any others you may have about municipal services, programs or actions.
Thanks again for your continued interest in the matters that affect Mt. Pleasant,
