In the third of four hearings imposed prior to permitting development, L-1 Bar & Grille received liquor license approval from the city commission. Discussion indicates city staff unilaterally determined doubling hearings required was a more efficient and business friendly process.
This process required violating state and local statutory provisions; grounds for voiding actions of public bodies. Discussion fails to recognize violations and includes misdirection by the city attorney suggesting the process and actions were legitimate. Speculation includes myriad reasons city officials might desire a veil of legitimacy; like violations have been condoned for years.
Note city attorney responses to commissioners Tilmann and English. Hopefully the misdirection and factual error were efforts to temporarily obfuscate while "regulations optional" becomes unacceptable administrative practice.
